I don't know how long its going to take some folks to realize , they preached ONLY ONE GOSPLE. Did Paul and Peter preach the same gospel? They are willing to take the initiative in dealing with Paul, but not so willing to take on the legalists, indeed, even the Jewish heretics such as we saw in Acts 15:1. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord to be salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. James nor paul contradicted each other . After his conversion Paul was given revelations from the Lord Jesus Christ; Paul did not learn from any man including the twelve Apostles (Galatians 1:12). Gentiles had to come through Israel and it's covenants to be added to the church (Exodus 12:48Acts 11:1); Gentiles had to believe the preaching of the word delivered to Israel as preached by Peter (Acts 13:48). Where Paul says believers are justified by faith rather than by works of the law, the epistle of James replies that "faith, apart from works, is dead" (2:17). Bob is a pastor/teacher and elder at Community Bible Chapel in Richardson, Texas, and has contributed many of his Bible study series for use by the Foundation. 1 And some men came down from Judea and [began] teaching the brethren, Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved. 2 And when Paul and Barnabas had great dissension and debate with them, [the brethren] determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue (Acts 15:1-2). Having come to the final verses of 2 Peter (2 Peter 3:13-18), our study of these verses will be carried out in three parts: (1) Peters endorsement of Pauls writings, (2) Peters warning of Scripture twisters. Paul was the perfect counterpart to Peter and the other apostles. Galatians 2:4) is not altogether clear. Paul and John represent the two most distinctive types of apostolic doctrine. Is this not the truth the false brethren (Galatians 2:3-5)legalists whose salvation is not absolutely clear (Acts 15:1-2)and even some of the Jerusalem churchs Jewish giants (Acts 10-11; Galatians 2:11-13)were reticent to receive? Yes, Paul was very defensive regarding his apostleship. But this was surely not clear to Peter or to the disciples at the time Jesus revealed it to them in Matthew 16. By Here I continue the discussion by pointing out what seem to me to be the main similarities and differences between them, as I spelled it out in a post several years ago: ***** I have been talking about the relationship of Jesus' proclamation of the coming Kingdom of God to . Paul Preached to Jews Peter preached holiness, and to remain steadfast unto the coming of Jesus and his kingdom (, Paul and works: Paul taught salvation without works (, Peter and the church: Peter preached to Israel (Acts 3:12). 13 And the rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy (Galatians 2:11-13). Israel would be a light for salvation unto the Gentile nations that would enter the kingdom (Isaiah 60:3). And in his writing to the saints in his two epistles, Peter is ministering to many Gentiles. Peter and Paul never taught the same gospel. St. Peter urges us to "remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles" (2 Peter 3:2). *** In the dispensation of the fullness of times both of these things will be brought together in Christ (Eph 1:10). Peter preached that the resurrection of Christ gave Israel assurance of that coming kingdom because Christ was raised to sit on the throne of David in that prophetic kingdom (1 Peter 1:3Acts 3:25 Acts 2:30). Our contention is that the Peter of the gospels is the author of both 1 and 2 Peter. Paul was Gods chosen instrument to define, proclaim, and protect the gospel. It is one thing to admit we are wrong and another person is right, which Peter does in effect by his words in our text. Acts 15:7-11), one by Paul and Barnabas that was not recorded (cf. And the standard they set was to be circumcised as a symbol of their commitment to keep the Law. Those who believed their gospels are in Christ. When Paul preached the gospel of the grace of God, Peters gospel of the kingdom to Israel was limited to the circumcision. I am puzzled that the Jerusalem Jewish saints do not seem to take a prominent role in this conflict. Paul is known to us as the apostle of grace, but Peter was an apostle of grace too.
